Traveling Bark House Progam

 
Our traveling bark house programs provide an amazing, three dimensional experience for learners of all ages to explore historic Native American lifeways and culture.   This full sized, authentic, historic native house can travel to any location or event , including schools, museums, re-enactments and powwows.  The house takes less than an hour to set up and can be used indoors or outdoors.

    For school groups, the house is the ideal size to fit a classroom of students.  It is the perfect setting to learn about Native American lifeways, explore cultural tools and artifacts or listen to stories of past.  Multiple presenters are available for larger school groups.  Presentations can cover a broad range of topics and hands-on experiences.

    For special events, such as re-enactments and powwows, our bark house is an ideal focal point for visitors and participants to experience the richness of historic Native American technologies and traditions.  The house can be fully furnished with traditional material culture items or can be open for visitors to explore.  The bark house is also available fir events with presenters who can demonstrate the contemporary practice of a traditional art form such as black ash basketry.   Presentations can also be provided on historical lifeways with period accuracy.

    The traveling bark house leases at a daily rate plus mileage from Western Michigan.  Discounts are available for multiple day events or educational programs.  Please contact us for more information.
